Primark's Powderly steps down
Primark's Pauline Powderly has resigned as buyer director on the Institute of Travel and Meetings's (ITM) central board.
The ITM also announced that its directors are due to meet this week to discuss the future structure of its board, including its size and function.
A decision as to the role ITM directors will play will be made before board vacancies are announced in the next fortnight.
Ms Powderly will focus more time on her work with Primark and on her personal life. Ms Powderly has been an ITM board director for eight years, and an ITM member for 26 years.
After stepping down as ITM Ireland chair in 2008, Ms Powderly was succeeded by Fiona Fealy of the Dublin City Development Board.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Board and was part of many changes that happened in the earlier stages of the development of ITM - but I really do need to let go now and focus on other things," Ms Powderly said.
Ms Powderly's resignation coincides with the stepping down of another UK board director, Kevin King, formerly of FCm Travel Solutions, who recently ended his second term.
Caroline Strachan, ITM chair, said: "We are very sorry to see both Pauline and Kevin go from the board. Both have played major parts in ITM's history and their passion and dedication to the association has been faultless.
"Kevin played a major role in ensuring suppliers became equal members in 2004/5 and Pauline has led the Ireland region with great determination. I would like to publicly thank both for their contribution."
