Munich-based travel and expense platform Lanes & Planes has appointed Alexander Stimpfle as its first chief financial officer.
Alexander Stimpfle
The appointment comes after the company secured “multi-million euro” debt financing from BBVA Bank in late 2025, as it pursues geographic expansion and greater investment in AI.
Stimpfle brings “extensive scale-up experience” to the role, having held senior finance positions at RV travel provider roadsurfer and holiday rental platform Holidu, where he played “a key role” in the company’s European expansion.
At Lanes & Planes, Stimpfle will oversee financial, legal and compliance matters and act as “a strategic sparring partner for founders and investors”, the company said in a statement.
Lanes & Planes CEO and co-founder Veit Blumschein said in a LinkedIn post that the company had been searching for its first CFO “for almost a year”.
“When building a leadership team, it’s rarely about speed, but about finding the person who is the best possible fit for our next chapter,” he said in a statement.
“We want to continue growing profitably, expand beyond our home market, and make significantly greater use of automation and AI – in the product as well as in our own processes.”
Commenting on his new role, Stimpfle added: “I have already built and scaled two rapidly growing financial organisations. From this experience, I bring a proven playbook – and also some important lessons learned from past pitfalls, especially when it comes to large transaction volumes.
“I also see great potential in AI: to make our own processes significantly more efficient and to jointly develop a completely new, agent-based product offering for our customers.”
Lanes & Planes is ranked as the seventh largest travel management company in Germany, with €200 million in reported gross sales in 2025, according to BTN Europe’s Leading TMCs 2026 report.
