A senior figure at Flybe has reassured Glasgow passengers worried about changing at Heathrow that there are other options.
Mike Rutter, Flybe’s chief commercial officer, said: “We’ve noted the reported concerns of Glasgow travellers recently that the cost of interlining could increase following the withdrawal of Bmi’s London Heathrow service.”
The demise of Bmi’s flights between Heathrow and Glasgow has left many travellers looking at higher ticket prices.
Flybe, however, is actively encouraging travellers to avoid Heathrow by flying with the regional airline and its interline partners, such as Virgin Atlantic and Continental.
There are lots of opportunities to connect to international destinations, said Rutter: “Flybe offers a choice of 51 Flybe routes from Glasgow alone. Some 33 of these are seamless connections offered via our hubs in Birmingham, Manchester and Southampton.”
For example, passengers from Glasgow can fly to New York via Birmingham with Flybe and Continental, or via Manchester to Orlando with Virgin Atlantic.
Passengers interlining with Flybe and its partners receive all necessary boarding cards and only need to check in their luggage at the original departure airport.
