Glasgow airport is spending £1.5 million on a new landside food hall and café bar.
The refurbished food hall will be located on the first floor of the main terminal, while the café bar will on the ground floor of the international arrivals hall.
US-based Delaware North Companies (DNC) has created four new restaurant, café and bar concepts for the development, which the food services company will also manage when they open early next year.
In the food hall, Central Sports Bar and Grill will have plasma screens showing live sports events and will have an American themed menu, with burgers, loaded potato skins and buffalo wings, while the Deli Kitchen Cafe will offer sandwiches, pastries and snacks.
There will also be a buffet style restaurant called Fresh Food Central, with a large open view kitchen so customers can watch their food being prepared. The menu will include a traditional Scottish breakfast, salads, sandwiches and stone baked pizza.
The café bar in the international arrivals hall will be called First Stop, and will offer sweet and savoury snacks and a selection of tea and coffee, plus chilled and alcoholic drinks.
Simon Dobson, UK managing director at DNC, said the company is “delighted” to start operating from Glasgow airport.
“With nearly a century of experience behind us, Delaware North Companies (UK) brings to the airport a wealth and in depth knowledge of the hospitality business,” he said.
“We have worked closely with the local team at BAA Glasgow to create fresh, innovative concepts and service solutions.”
Delaware North runs food and beverage operations at more than 20 airports in north America, including Los Angeles International and Newark International, as well as in nine airports in Australia and New Zealand.
Francois Bourienne, Commercial Director at Glasgow Airport, commented: “With an in-depth knowledge of food and hospitality management and their attention to detail focus, they are sure to bring a fantastic range of catering offerings.
"As a commercial business we are fully committed to delivering a truly unique travelling experience to our customers. This year, despite a recession, we have continued to attract a host of top name brands to the airport, adding household names such as Tesco's, and Dorothy Perkins to our retail portfolio.”
