German carrier Condor on Wednesday (1 April) commenced flights between London Gatwick and Frankfurt.
The new service, first announced last November, will operate three times per day, and marks the first time that Condor has served a London airport.
This follows the launch on 29 March of Air France’s new twice-daily service connecting Gatwick and Paris CDG airport. Flights on the route are operated by the carrier’s Airbus A220 aircraft. Air France has not flown from Gatwick since 1996.
London Gatwick has welcomed five new airlines so far this year, with Air France, Eurowings, Condor, Animawings and leisure specialist Jet2 all commencing operations. AirAsia X, Air Arabia, Beijing Capital and Pegasus are also set to begin flying from the UK’s second largest airport “in coming weeks”.
