The Finnish national carrier will add an additional weekly flight from its Helsinki hub to Nagoya in the New Year.
From December 31, Finnair will start flying on Fridays, taking the total number of flights per week to five.
The airline currently flies the route on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The flight will leave Helsinki at 5.15pm, arriving into Nagoya’s Chubu Centrair International Airport at 9.55am the following day.
The move reflects the airline’s strategy to grow in the Asian market, said Finnair’s SVP Commercial Division Mika Perho.
"Finnair's position in traffic between Asia and Europe is strengthening continually. Our Asian strategy is working really well and demand has grown strongly,” he said.
Passengers from the UK will be able to connect with the Helsinki-Nagoya flight from London Heathrow and Manchester airports.
Finnair is also increasing the number of flights to Seoul and Osaka in the New Year, and will be starting a new route to Singapore in May.
