Eurowings, the Lufthansa Group’s low-cost airline, has expanded its agreement with technology provider Sabre by making its Basic fares available through Sabre’s marketplace.
Sabre-connected travel agents can now shop and book the airline’s budget Basic fares, which follows the hand baggage-only tickets offered by other low-cost carriers. This is in addition to Eurowings’ two other fare types, Smart and Best, which are also available through Sabre.
Alessandro Ciancimino, vice president EMEA, supplier commerce at Sabre, said: “Eurowings is undertaking a large-scale growth plan that is built on serving both price-sensitive and service-oriented customers. This means giving both business and leisure travellers the ability to book low-cost basic fares as well as the option to add a wide range of extra services to suit their individual needs. By making its BASIC fare available through Sabre, Eurowings will reach an unrivalled network of agents, helping it to grow within a competitive marketplace.”
The Lufthansa Group recently announced it would add more than 60 aircraft to the Eurowings fleet. The carrier will also introduce business class seats on selected long-haul flights starting this summer.
