Etihad Airways has opened a new premium lounge at Manchester airport.
Located in Terminal 1, the premium lounge is the airline’s second in the UK, after London Heathrow. Etihad also has lounges at Frankfurt airport and its hub Abu Dhabi.
Covering 318 sqm, the lounge has a business centre, dining facilities, a relaxation area and showers.
It also features a gallery showcasing memorabilia from Manchester City football club, which Etihad sponsors.
Andrew Harrison, Manchester Airport’s managing director, said the new lounge "puts Manchester on the map as a world class airport".
He said: “Etihad's Abu Dhabi service is a crucial link between our two closely-linked regions and the addition of a premium lounge demonstrates real confidence in this important relationship.”
According to Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways chief commercial officer, Manchester is an important market for the airline
"The ties between Manchester and Abu Dhabi have never been stronger," he added.
“This latest development is testament to our commitment to the North West of England, and to the ever-growing business and leisure travel demand in and out of the region.”
Etihad operates daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Manchester.
The lounge is open to travellers in premium classes,as well as Silver and Gold Etihad Guest card holders regardless of their class of travel.
