Etihad Airways plans to up the number of flights to the capital of Karnataka from four-times-weekly to daily, as of March 25.
The expansion on the Indian route come just three months after the airline first launched flights to Bangalore from its Abu Dhabi hub.
Neerja Bhatia, Etihad’s India country manager, said: “This latest increase in our Indian flying is indicative of the huge confidence we have in this important market.”
The Bangalore route is operated using a two-class A320, configured to carry 16 passengers in business class and 120 in economy.
Etihad has also signed a new codeshare deal with Air Astana, the national carrier of Kazakhstan.
Under the agreement, Etihad has placed its EY code on Air Astana’s 11 weekly flights from Abu Dhabi to Almaty and Astana.
In turn, Air Astana has placed its KC code on Etihad’s four weekly flights from Abu Dhabi to Astana and Almaty.
Peter Foster, Air Astana’s president, said: "This first step of cooperation with Etihad is central to our strategic goal of developing Abu Dhabi as a significant hub for Air Astana in the region.”
