Hot on the tail of Etihad and Qatar’s announcements of double-daily flights from Manchester, Emirates has declared it will offer a thrice-daily service.
Emirates will add a third flight to its existing lunchtime and evening departures from May 1.
Flight EK022 will depart Manchester at 9.40am, arriving into Dubai at 7.50pm. From Dubai, flight EK021 will leave at 3am and arrive into Manchester at 7.55am.
Etihad will start twice-daily flights between Manchester and its Abu Dhabi hub from August 1, while Qatar will start a double-daily service to its Doha hub from June 1.
Laurie Berryman, Emirates’ vice president for the UK and Ireland, said the airline is confident it can fill the extra capacity on the route.
He said: “We’ve already filled the additional capacity we introduced with the A380 last year and demand continues to grow, hence this plan for further growth.
The new service will be operated using an A330-200 aircraft in a three-class configuration, with capacity for 12 passengers in first class, 42 in business and 183 in economy.
