Emirates is resuming more of its flagship A380 services this
week, including restarting flights to Amsterdam and Cairo and adding a second
daily service to its Heathrow route. The airline will also deploy the aircraft to
Guangzhou from 8 August.
The carrier has so far resumed A380 operations to five
cities and will gradually increase its use of the aircraft as passenger demand
dictates. Currently, customers can fly daily to Amsterdam, four times a week to
Cairo, twice daily to Heathrow, once daily to Paris and soon once weekly to
Guangzhou.
It comes as other airlines, such as Air France, are axing
their A380 services entirely in favour of smaller, more fuel-efficient planes due to a
lack of demand.
Over the past week, Emirates has also resumed services from
to Dubai to Prague, Stockholm, Addis Ababa, Clark, Dar es Salaam, Nairobi, Sao
Paulo and the Seychelles. It plans to expand to 68 cities in August, returning
to 50 per cent of its pre-pandemic network.
Covid-19 tests are mandatory for all inbound and transit
passengers arriving to Dubai, including UAE citizens, residents and tourists,
regardless of their country of origin.
Last month Emirates announced it would pay passengers’
Covid-19 medical and quarantine expenses if they test positive for the illness
during travel for no extra charge until 31 October 2020.
