Budget airline Easyjet has announced it has confirmed orders for 15 A320 aircraft, worth $1.1 billion.
The no-frills carrier has also changed its order for 20 A319 aircraft to the larger A320.
The new aircraft will be delivered between 2012 and 2014, and will be financed through a mix of cash, operating leases and debt.
Despite the commitment, Easyjet said it remains flexible on future growth.
Carolyn McCall, Easyjet's CEO said: “A central feature of the agreement is the flexibility it gives easyJet to vary the growth rate in its capacity to reflect economic conditions and market opportunities."
Through a combination of new aircraft, deferrals and lease extensions, its growth rate in terms of seats flown can be flexible and dependant on both opportunities available and economic conditions, said the airline.
Easyjet has also secured options on 33 A320 aircraft, bringing the total number of options with Airbus held by the airline to 42.
