Eastern Airways has launched its thrice-weekday service from Manchester to London Stansted today (29 Oct 07).
Former England cricketer Dominic Cork (pictured) teamed up with the regional airline, which links the North West of England with Essex, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire.
Eastern Airways has taken over the route from Air Berlin, providing more flights with three each weekday. A 07:15 service departing Manchester will ”appeal to business travellers,” says the carrier.
”We have stepped in to rescue this important route, which will significantly benefit companies in the north of England that have business links in the counties around Stansted.” said Eastern Airways CEO, Chris Holliday.
He added: ”We are providing an early 07:15 Manchester departure for business commuters, along with the convenience of an enhanced business schedule allowing for greater day trip flexibility.”
”We are delighted that Eastern Airways are back on the Stansted route, with an increase in flights from Manchester,” said Manchester Airport head of network development, Aidan Mooney.
”The route is vital to the region”s economy and plays a key role in the prosperity of North West businesses, as well as complementing the worldwide network of scheduled services from Manchester airport.”
Eastern Airways, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, previously operated from Manchester to Stansted for three years until 2006, when Air Berlin started services on the niche route.
