EASTERN AIRWAYS has thrown the door open to aircraft salesman. The Humberside Airport based airline, which took over most of the minor British Airways regional routes in 2002 is looking to replace its fleet of eight 18 passenger BAe J32”s and 14 28 seat BAe J41”s with larger aircraft, with perhaps the preference for turboprops. Eastern Airways currently operates some 750 scheduled flights each week and will carry nearly half a million mainly business passengers this year on a network now embracing Aberdeen, Belfast International, Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Humberside, Inverness, Isle of Man, Leeds Bradford, Stansted, Manchester, Newcastle, Norwich, East Midlands, Southampton, Teesside and Wick. Besides the BAe aircraft the airline also operates both the Saab 2000 turboprop and Embraer 145 regional jet aircraft. Eastern prides itself with a floral display at its check-in, always fresh. Head of sales and marketing Keith Watson, ex BA , Maersk and Duo, is on line at Southampton.
