From now on passengers and visitors of Düsseldorf International have a unique service at their disposal: It is now possible to already reserve the parking lot you desire online before your journey to the airport. Airport guests can comfortably secure a parking space from home on the web site of the airport www.duesseldorf-international.de or directly on www.dus-parken.de until midnight of the evening before entry into the desired car park.
"Now passengers can head directly for the reserved parking lot. It is unnecessary to search when you are at the airport", says Karin Möllers, head of the airport's line of business Non Aviation. "Another factor which contributes to the time-saver and to the comfort of our airline passengers is the fact that the usual parking-tokens are discontinued." The only thing needed for entry and exit into the chosen car park is the Eurocheque card or credit card which was already used for the online reservation. Waiting at the pay machine and counting of change before the beginning of the return journey become unnecessary through this - the accrued parking fees are directly debited to the inserted Eurocheque card or credit card. To make this possible the parking technology was modified by Apcoa Autoparking GmbH, which operates the parking spaces at the airport.
The reservation fees are also debited to the indicated Eurocheque card or credit card - it is already charged when booking online. Airline passengers of Düsseldorf International can secure a parking space at a charge of 4.00 Euros in the area of Terminal-parking (P3 and P8) or in the area of long-term parking (P4 and P5). The so-called Premium Parking offers a special feature in car park P3: There is a separate entry at the departures level available to visitors, guaranteed moreover is a permanent parking lot in direct proximity to the Terminal at the departures level. A reservation in this area in car park P3 costs 8.00 Euros.
"We consider it our task as an international hub to improve everyday processes steadily as well as to guarantee a constant optimization and expansion of the offered services", explains Karin Möllers. "By the reservation system we enable our passengers to plan their journey systematically already in advance and thus to reach their destination as trouble-free, fast and comfortably as possible." The airport's internal parking management system also contributes to it: It directs airline passengers on the shortest way to the parking lot reserved in advance.
The parking spaces near Terminal are provided up to one hour before and one hour after the time of arrival at the airport of Düsseldorf indicated in the reservation process. In the long-term parking zone it is possible to enter up to two hours earlier or four hours later than planned. Moreover the reservation can be changed one time free of charge if the time or day of departure changes. Further parking services which are available for the passengers of Düsseldorf International are for example the washing and repair service, Security Parking or the Valet Parking service. The latter makes it possible for airline passengers to check-in already while Apcoa employees are parking the car. Parking at the airport
About 16,800 car parking spaces are available for the guests of Düsseldorf International at present - with upward trend. Currently about 3,500 additional parking lots for passengers are built at the airport by the construction of the Terminal car park P7 as well as of a car rental center. After the completion of the two projects in spring 2009 the airport will have about 20,000 parking lots altogether.
As both the car park and the car rental center are directly linked to the Terminal (area of departures A) by a bridge, car park P7 with its approx. 3,000 parking spaces will represent a real alternative - not only for passengers flying with Lufthansa. The new car rental center offers numerous services to guests of the airport under a single "parking roof": This means rented cars are not only given or returned, but also refueled and cleaned in the eighth-storied new building.
