Delta customers travelling to and from New York can now book a helicopter transfer service between Manhattan and JFK airport through the airline”s website.
The arrangement has come about through a new codeshare agreement between the companies, which also allows travel agents to book clients on the eight-minute service via GDS systems.
Business travellers can transfer quickly to or from Manhattan Heliport (Wall Street) or East 34th Street Heliport, where security and luggage screening will take place, boarding cards collected and bags checked through to the final destination - even for international flights.
”Delta is committed to giving our New York City customers convenient access to the world right from our JFK hub, and we”re always looking for ways to respect their busy schedules,” said Delta director of sales and marketing for New York City, Brian Rutter. ”US Helicopter is a great choice for our globe-trotting customer as it reduces their travel time and expedites the check-in process especially for international flights.”
Ticket prices start at $159 (”80) one-way plus taxes for the city ride, although it is free for those with an applicable Delta international BusinessElite ticket to and from Africa, Brazil, Europe, India and Israel, valid until 31 December.
Delta SkyMiles members earn 500 miles for each booking.
There are 27 daily flights on weekdays ” excluding holidays ” but no weekend service, and all US Helicopter flights feature eight-seat Sikorsky aircraft crewed by two pilots. They operate from Gate 11 in Terminal 3 at JFK.

Known as the Delta Reserve Credit Card and the Delta Reserve for Business Credit Card, perks include providing access to priority boarding lanes and frequent traveller security lines at airports, plus Delta Crown Room Clubs and use of 24/7 personal concierge services.
Customers will also earn Medallion Qualification Miles more rapidly and be able to share these with family and friends for the first time.
Cards have an annual fee of $450, although those who already carry certain types of American Express card can access cheaper offers.
