Members of Cathay Pacific”s frequent flyer programme, the Marco Polo Club, have been contacted with more information about the troubled roll out of its new business and first class product. In an email sent out this week, the airline has admitted ”technical problems with the new sockets onboard, which were intended to work with any standard plug.”
The email from Katie Rowen, manager of the Marco Polo Club admits that the airline has ””encountered technical problems with this new system on the Boeing 747-400 aircraft, which we have not yet been able to fully resolve. We are writing to let you know that an interim solution has just been incorporated and tested successfully to supply power to the First and Business Class cabins. This solution will be progressively installed on all Boeing 747-400 aircraft before the end of 2008.”
The details of the interim solution have not been detailed, but the airline assures its passengers that ””we would like to assure you that in conjunction with the responsible supplier Panasonic Avionics Corporation, we are working hard to find a swift solution for all cabin classes. We will contact you again as soon as we have more information on the likely timeframe on when this issue will be fully resolved.
Our Club Service Centre or Reservations Department is more than happy to advise you of the aircraft type regarding your flight so that you can make any necessary preparations.”
