Richard Branson has lost a bet with Air Asia boss Tony Fernandes, which means he must dress up as an air stewardess and serve passengers on a flight, ABTN can confirm.
The wager between the airline tycoons was over who would rate the highest in Formula One – both launched racing teams last year, but at the end of the season Fernandes’ Lotus Racing fared better than Virgin Racing.
A Virgin spokeswoman said that, true to his word, Branson will be donning the uniform of an Air Asia female flight attendant and working hard on a long-haul flight.
Seats on the flight, from Kuala Lumpur to London, will be auctioned off to raise money for charity. Virgin’s not for profit organisation Virgin Unite will be involved.
According to Air Asia, the date has now been set for February 21, when passengers on the Asian airline will see a cross-dressing Sir Branson in high heels and full make-up take to the aisles.
