Birmingham airport has reported its highest-ever recorded passenger numbers for the month of October after seeing a 6.1 per cent increase year-over-year.
The regional airport saw more than 1.14 million passengers throughout October, with the top three destinations reported as Dublin, Amsterdam and Dubai.
The destinations that saw the highest passenger growth included Venice (up 98.7 per cent), Krakow (up 95.1 per cent), Naples (up 83 per cent) and Prague (up 52.5 per cent).
Simon Richards, acting MD at Birmingham airport, commented: “Recording our best October in the airport’s 79-year history signifies an exciting period for us. We have recently released our draft Master Plan, which explains how the airport plans to grow passenger numbers and deliver improved facilities for our airlines and passengers over the next 15 years, and these figures show that we are moving in the right direction.
“We have already made significant investments across the terminal and the surrounding areas of the airport, including an improved security area, a new on-site hotel and more car parking... Looking forward to 2019, we will continue to place customer service at the heart of everything we do.”
