Banking expert Jonathan Haseler is to speak at next month’s inaugural Independent Business Travel Agents’ Conference (IBTAC).
Haseler is relationship director for Barclays Commercial, and has been embedded in the financial realms of the travel sector in recent years.
He will lead a session about credit card merchant fees, extended credit card clearances and PDQ charges and restrictions.
Norman Gage, director of business travel for agency consortium Advantage and one of IBTAC’s key organisers, said the session would approach a number of issues that were critical to the survival of the independent TMC.
“There are about five or six major issues related to the banks’ dealings with TMCs that will be discussed. This is an opportunity to engage with one of our industry’s experts and to devise some solid solutions to take forward.”
Other conference speakers include: John McEwan, chief executive of Advantage Travel Centres and chairman of ABTA; Richard Gooding OBE, chief executive of London City Airport; Tony Matharu, managing director of Grange Hotels; Anna Doran, national sales manager at Virgin Rail, and Anthony Ainsworth, commercial director for car rental firm, Avis.
The IBTAC conference takes place on Monday, February 7 at The Grange Hotel, St Paul’s, in central London.
