London’s Heathrow Airport will increase its drop-off fee from £6 to £7 from 1 January 2026.
The UK’s busiest airport will also introduce a 10-minute standing limit for vehicles in drop-off zones at each of its four terminals from 1 January.
The fee hike has been criticised by the Business Travel Association (BTA), with CEO Clive Wratten labelling it “yet another example of rising airport charges hitting the very people who keep our economy moving”.
“Business travellers are being penalised the moment they arrive at the airport. There's next to no justification for this,” he said in a statement.
“These charges do nothing to improve the passenger experience or reliability of access to Heathrow. All it does is simply raise costs for individuals and businesses already facing higher travel taxes and regional connectivity challenges," Wratten said.
The decision comes less than a week after the business travel industry lambasted the UK Government for planned increases to its Air Passenger Duty, a possible hike in the overnight visitor levy and the introduction of a new tax on electric vehicle usage, which were announced as part of its Autumn Budget.
