New service for business travellers
BCD Travel has signed a deal with TripIt to provide online services to help business travellers on the road.
TripIt's itinerary platform enables travellers to send details of travel changes to colleagues and family.
It is already in use by "road warriors" at SME companies but BCD will make it available to all corporate clients from early next year.
BCD said it would then offer corporate clients "TripIt-powered services that meet the evolving needs of travellers and the business goals of travel programmes".
As part of the agreement, BCD will transfer details of a trip to TripIt which will then send a "master itinerary" to the travellers' TripIt account which can be accessed through a mobile.
The "master itinerary" will include weather forecasts, maps, directions and other trip-related information.
Travellers can add details or changes in plans to the itinerary and send it on to colleagues and family.
TripIt will also give travellers access to a selection of apps.
Scott Hintz, TripIt's co-founder and vp of business development, said: "TripIt has been rapidly adopted by business travellers at small, medium and large companies alike, including travellers from all of the 100 top travelling corporations.
"With this move, BCD Travel is the first TMC to truly embrace the power of openness to satisfy the needs of their business travellers, within the context of a company's managed travel programme."
April Bridgeman, BCD's senior vp for strategic marketing and technology planning, said: "TripIt fits perfectly within our vision for providing the best post-booking traveller experience available and embracing practical social features that add value to clients and travellers."
