British Airways has unveiled its new World Traveller and World Traveller Plus seats onboard its B777 fleet out of Gatwick and some from Heathrow.
The new cabins will be rolled out in a three-class configuration on six aircraft by winter 2018, while the remaining six B777s will be fitted with four class cabins by summer 2019.
World Traveller Plus seats feature a leg and footrest, adjustable six-way headrest and cocktail tables at the front of the seat, as well as in-arm tray tables.
World Traveller cabins feature adjustable headrests and moveable middle armrests.
All new seats are fitted with larger entertainment screens, while the new Panasonic IFE system has a larger capacity to offer a wider selection of films, TV and audio. They will also feature USB sockets for in-seat device charging, while World Traveller Plus seats have an additional power outlet for UK, US and EU plugs.
BA says the first routes to be operated by the new B777s will be Punta Cana, Cancun and Kingston, Jamaica, before the aircraft are gradually rolled out across all of the airline’s 22 long-haul destinations from Gatwick.
The carrier will also be investing £600 million in its Club World offering, with an emphasis on amenities such as catering and White Company bedding, as well as a new seat in future.
Sean Doyle, director of network and alliances at BA, said: “In response to demand, we’re increasing the size of the cabin so we can offer more of these popular seats to our customers, while keeping the cabin intimate and retaining the expert, attentive service that our travellers love.”
