British Airways is to resume non-stop flights to Cairo tomorrow morning (Saturday), following a relaxation of the curfew in the city.
The airline has been running a service to the Egyptian capital via Athens in order to avoid the need for crews to stay in Cairo during the curfew imposed following demonstrations against President Mubarak. However, from tomorrow morning, the daily Cairo flight will operate direct. An 09.30 departure from London will enable the Boeing 747 aircraft and crew to return the same day, arriving back at Heathrow at 20.50.
BA’s normal departure slot to Cairo is at 17.00, arriving at 23.40, and a BA spokesman said it aimed to revert to this “when it is appropriate to do so”.
BA has also extended its rebooking window for travellers to Egypt until February 27, which includes the school half term.
