Shareholders at British Airways and Iberia are expected to vote on the merger of the two airlines today (November 29).
Extraordinary general meetings will be held in Madrid and London, at which shareholders will give their formal approval of the final merger plans.
If all goes according to plan, the merger will be completed in late January 2011.
After this date, the two companies will become part of the International Airlines Group, although each will continue to fly under their own brand.
BA’s current CEO Willie Walsh will head up the new joint company, with the airline’s current chief financial officer Keith Williams taking over the role of CEO of BA.
