More premium seats will be added on OpenSkies” routes from Paris and Amsterdam to New York.
OpenSkies, the premium transatlantic airline from British Airways, will in October expand its premium cabin seats on flights from Paris and Amsterdam to New York.
The PREM+ cabin will launch from Paris on October 1 and from Amsterdam on October 15. It will have 40 seats instead of 28 on flights from Amsterdam-Schiphol and Paris-Orly to New York-JFK. OpenSkies” 30 economy seats will be removed to make room for the new premium seats.
The cabin features leather seats at a 140-degree recline and a roomy 52-inches between the back of one seat to the back of the seat behind. Premium passengers will also benefit from over 50 hours of programming on personal entertainment systems, as well as multilingual concierges.
The concierges help passengers with translation and can book hotel reservations and provide sightseeing information. Once an OpenSkies passengers books a flight, the concierge will contact them within 24 hours to see if there”s anything they can do to help. They are also on call for passengers until they fly.
PREM+ is marketed as a cheaper alternative to the airline”s business class, BIZ, which has flat beds at a 180-degree angle. Dale Moss, managing director of OpenSkies said: ”By offering business class comfort without business class costs, PREM+SM compares very favorably with what our competitors offer as business class.”
In addition to its 40 PREM+ seats, the OpenSkies” Boeing 757 aircraft will have 24 seats in BIZ.
Flights leave Paris at 1055 and arrive in New York at 1325, and return from New York at 1730, arriving back in Paris at 0725.
The daily flight departs from Amsterdam at 1320 and arrives New York at 1535. The flight departs New York at 2005 on the way back and arrives back in Amsterdam at 0940 the following morning.
OpenSkies is the first airline created following the Open Skies agreement, which allows airlines to fly between the US and Europe. The OpenSkies airline is also considering flying from Brussels, Frankfurt and Milan.
