Calls for a coherent air travel strategy in the south east have topped a poll of senior transport industry figures.
The demand for a clear policy on airport expansion beat the construction of Crossrail among a phone poll of 91 senior executives and nine board level staff in companies including logistics, freight and infrastructure as well as transport sectors.
The poll, for project consultancy Moorhouse, found that only 32% of senior leaders in the transport sector felt the government had a clear vision for the future of the UK’s transport network and 85% said the lack of clarity had affected their organisations.
The report found deep dissatisfaction in the air and rail industries with not one respondent in the aviation sector feeling positive about their dealings with the government.
Jason Byrne, principal and transport sector lead at Moorhouse, said: “This lack of clear direction is grinding UK transport and infrastructure to a halt.”
