Aer Lingus CEO Stephen Kavanagh has announced the airline plans to undergo a brand refresh, while transatlantic economy class passengers will be offered a free 20MB in-flight wifi package and complimentary alcohol with meals.
Discussing the developments at the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) Expo, Kavanagh said the Irish flag carrier’s update will include 12 new A321neo long-range aircraft, redesigned livery and new cabin crew uniforms.
Kavanagh said the changes will reflect a “modern” look for the airline and its ambition to be the “leading value carrier across the North Atlantic”, although the livery will still feature a shamrock and green colour.
He also said: “We are announcing today our intent to offer a complimentary glass of wine or beer with the meal service to our transatlantic Economy guests and to provide free social messaging with 20MB complimentary wifi for Smart Fare transatlantic economy guests.”
Kavanagh claims the move comes after customer feedback showed the need to offer such amenities.
Aer Lingus recently announced new routes to Minneapolis and Montreal, bringing its total transatlantic flights to 15.
