Ryanair is to stop its services from Cork to East Midlands and Glasgow Prestwick airports next month.
It blamed a 20% rise in costs at the Irish airport for ending the flights on October 26 and 28 respectively.
Michael O'Leary, Ryanair's chairman, said: ”A 20% increase in airport charges on these routes reduces our ability to offer really low fares at a time of higher oil prices, and these higher costs will make these two new routes loss-making this winter."
But rival Irish carrier Aer Arann said it would start a new daily service between Cork and Prestwick from Tuesday October 28.
Fergal Barry, Aer Arann's commercial director, said: "This is an excellent opportunity for Aer Arann to take over an existing route.”
The airline already flies from Cork to Edinburgh.
