Accorhotels has confirmed that it is exploring its options for acquiring a stake in Air France KLM.
Air France is under financial strain resulting from 15 strike days so far this year in a row with staff over pay. The situation has brought about the resignation of chairman and CEO Jean-Marc Janaillac after his offer was rejected by the unions.
French paper Les Echos reported that the government is considering selling its 14.3 per cent stake in Air France KLM.
Accorhotels later released a statement to confirm that it has “resumed its reflections on the matter, being at a very early stage of assessing the feasibility and potential terms and conditions which will be discussed with Air France KLM in due time”.
The group stipulates that the discussion does not necessarily mean a deal will be reached.
Accorhotels has been in talks with Air France KLM in the past, with the group looking at the possibility of developing “joint digital projects” and “a joint loyalty and services platform”.
