Airlines shouldn't be forced to cover the expenses of stranded passengers as a result of the volcanic ash cloud, say ABTN readers.
Some 68% of people who voted in our online poll said it is "unfair" that airlines should have to pay, after the eruption of the Icelandic volcano left thousands of passengers unable to travel.
The ash crisis is thought to have cost the already ailing aviation industry more than $1.7 billion, according to figures from the International Air Transport Association.
But the remaining 32% said that no, it wasn't unfair for airlines to have to pay.
One reader commented: "Tour operators have to pay when their pax are standed by problems like this - why should airlines be exempt from this sort of customer care?"
More than 260 people took part in the poll.
