American Airlines has announced it will start year round flights between Manchester and New York JFK from next April.
The route was originally announced as a summer service from May as in previous years.
But AA has now brought the re-start forward and made the service year round because of demand.
The airline will run its two non-stop flights a day in Boeing 757-200s with 182 seats.
Maria Sebastian, AA’s vp sales and marketing EMEA, said: “Since the route was launched in May 2010, literally thousands of customers have flown with us non-stop to New York and beyond.
Andrew Harrison, Manchester Airport's managing director, said: “American Airlines is our longest serving American carrier from Manchester Airport, having operated continuously for 25 years.
“I’m delighted that the New York JFK service was so successful that it’s not only starting earlier than planned but will be operating a year round schedule from 2011.”
