American Airlines says it will be the only transatlantic service between New York and Stansted to offer both business class and economy class seats.
The new flights will operate using a Boeing 767-300 aircraft with 225 seats, including 30 business class and 195 economy seats in the economy cabin.
AA”s new business class seats are designed to give passengers more ”flexibility” and ”privacy”. The fully motorised lie-flat seats, in a 2-2-2 configuration, offer a personal in-flight entertainment device with audio and video on demand, and cabin lighting.
”Customers flying from our new, state of the art JFK terminal to Stansted will not only enjoy excellent service in the air, but a smooth travel experience on the ground at both JFK and Stansted.” said AA”s vice president for greater New York, Chuck Imhof.
Imhof added: ”While we initiated JKF-Stansted service because our business customers asked for it, the route also has strong appeal for leisure travellers.”
American is set to begin work at Stansted for the AA business lounge Satellite Two, ready for completion in spring 2008, with a seating capacity for 48 people.
The lounge will feature amenities such as a self-service bar, cyber caf”, wireless and wired internet access and two shower rooms.
Passengers will be able to board directly from the business lounge.
