American Airlines (AA), British Airways (BA) and Iberia have expanded the number of flights included in their trans-Atlantic joint venture.
The three Oneworld airlines have today launched more than 300 additional codeshare flights between North America and Europe, on top of the 2,700 announced along with the joint venture in October.
The additional 317 codeshares sees the carriers start a tie-up on flights between Canada, Mexico and Europe.
Virasb Vahidi, AA’s chief commercial officer, said: “Expanded codesharing makes it easier and more convenient for our respective customers to travel on the global networks of all three airlines and delivers on our promise of more routing choices, easier connections and a better overall travel experience.”
AA has added its flight code to 57 additional BA flights to 16 destinations, and four Iberia flights to two destinations.
Meanwhile, BA has added its flight code to 42 AA flights to 18 destinations and 56 Iberia flights to eight destinations.
Lastly, Iberia, has added its flight code to 72 AA flights to 23 destinations and 86 Iberia flights to 24 destinations.
These codeshare flights are now on sale, for travel starting from December 28.
According to Manuel López Aguilar, Iberia’s general director for commercial and clients, still further routes will be added in the Spring: “In the case of Iberia [these] are Madrid-Los Angeles and Barcelona-Miami. We could not operate these new routes without the joint business.”
