Tune Hotels has opened its third property in London, a 137-room hotel located on Praed Street, near Paddington station, with direct links to Heathrow via the Heathrow Express train service.
Tune Hotel Paddington joins existing properties in Westminster opposite Lambeth North underground station, and on Folgate Street close toLiverpool Street station.
The hotel features a mixture of double, twin and accessible rooms, with a choice of windowed or (cheaper) windowless options. Guests can also use the property’s café, as well as discounts at a number of nearby bars and restaurants by showing their Tune Hotels keycard.
The Tune Hotels offering focuses on providing a “five-star sleeping experience at a one-star price”, with features including good quality beds and linen and power showers, plus chargeable extras such as wifi internet, towels, safe, hairdryer and Freeview TV channels.
CEO Mark Lankester confirmed the group will also open a hotel in Edinburgh this December, and said it was also in discussions about a property in London’s Canary Wharf.
He said that while the two existing London hotels had initially attracted a mainly leisure market, the economic downturn has led to companies applying “far more scrutiny” on hotel bookings, with an emphasis on cost cutting leading to the Liverpool Street property in particular now running at around 40 per cent corporate guests.
The group’s fourth London property will open on July 9, located on the corner of Grays Inn Road and Swinton Street, a few minutes’ walk south of King’s Cross St Pancras station.
With the hotel opening just before the Olympics, and St Pancras station providing direct links to the Olympic Park, the group says it has rooms available over the games period for £99, along with “limited availability” at its Westminster, Liverpool Street and Paddington properties.
