Suning Real Estate and resorts brand MGM are set to unveil the new Bellagio Shanghai on 8 June, marking the first international hotel to follow the famous Bellagio Towers in Las Vegas.
Located on the banks of the Suzhou River, the art-deco inspired hotel will feature a four-storey atrium fitted with LED screens (pictured below), which will display a mirage of the world-famous fountain at the original Las Vegas property.
WATG and Wimberly Interiors are behind the design of the guest rooms, some of which feature private terraces. Suites at the property are tended to by personal butlers.
Award-winning chef Julian Serrano has brought his Italian restaurant LAGO from the Las Vegas Bellagio, while the Mansion at One restaurant will provide Shanghai and Cantonese cuisine.
Further highlights include the naturally-lit, pillar-free Grand Ballroom (pictured below), which features a seven-metre-high ceiling. There is also function, entertaining and meeting space, as well as a spa and fitness centre.
Suning, which has ambitions to open a further 100 luxury properties in China, will oversee and co-manage the hotel’s operations alongside the Chinese arm of MGM Resorts International, Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality.
William M Scott IV, president of MGM Asia Pacific and executive director and general manager of Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality, commented: “We bring in Bellagio with the soul and spirit from the legend’s beginning in Las Vegas.”
