Serviced apartments specialist SilverDoor has opened its first office in Shanghai as it looks to expand in China.
The UK-based company, which announced its merger with Synergy Global Housing last year, said it has been operating in China since 2017 and has now chosen to open a dedicated office to take advantage of rising demand for extended-stay accommodation in the country.
SilverDoor said in a statement that reservations in China during the second quarter of 2026 have doubled compared with the same period of 2025. Bookings have been fuelled by demand from Chinese firms who are expanding internationally and by foreign organisations sending staff to China.
Stuart Winstone, SilverDoor’s CEO, said: “We’ve been operating in China for a number of years and in that time, have built real knowledge of this market, genuine relationships with supply chain partners, and a track record of delivering for clients here.
“This office is the natural next step, at a moment when demand is accelerating and interest in this region is growing. For clients with people moving into or out of China, having a team on the ground who genuinely knows this market makes a real difference.”
SilverDoor added that its Shanghai team will be led by Hana Huang, who is supply chain manager for the APAC region, and senior client services consultant James Wills, who both have “extensive knowledge and experience” of the Chinese market. The new office is based within Raffles City in Shanghai's central business district.
Since its merger with Synergy, SilverDoor has expanded to operate from 15 offices across four continents, including its APAC regional headquarters in Singapore.
