The Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong has reopened after $140m renovation. The hotel reopened on September 28, nine months to the day after it closed to renovate. The traditional opening ceremony was hosted by actress Maggie Cheung ”who cut the ribbon” and Hong Kong socialite Christina Lee.
The hotel originally opened in 1963 and has reopened with 502 guestrooms and suites, nine restaurants and bars, comprehensive banqueting facilities, a Shanghai-look holistic spa, traditional barber and hair salon, sky-lit fitness facility and a swimming pool.
Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong hotel general manager Peter French said: ”The date was selected on the advice of our Feng Shui master, as an auspicious time to begin this historic reopening.
”Room by room and floor by floor, every last detail has been put into place in order to ensure its legendary status. Each of our 700 colleagues is looking forward to welcoming our guests back.”
