The German originated, Thai-owned and Geneva-based luxury hotel group Kempinski is to open a third property in Switzerland following management contracts for the Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains St Moritz and Le Mirador Kempinski Lake Geneva.
Kempinski is to manage the former Le Palace Hilton Geneva, lakeside, which will re-open after extensive refurbishments early next year. The Grand Hotel Kempinski Geneva is planned to have a soft opening in February 2007 with 230 refurbished rooms. By the end of May the properties remaining 200 rooms, meeting and conference facilities, restaurants and lounges will also be fully operational. The refurbished hotel will also feature a duplex called the Geneva Suite ” offering views over the city and a private spa and gym. The exterior of the hotel is also to be revamped with a futuristic feel.
Kempinski president and CEO Reto Wittwer emphasized the relevance of the deal for the company: ”This is a particularly important property for us, as Kempinski”s worldwide operations are managed from Geneva.”
