IHG has announced the launch of its voco upscale brand in Scotland with the planned opening of the voco Grand Central in Glasgow and voco Edinburgh Haymarket in March, subject to a loosening of the current lockdown.
The voco Grand Central Hotel has 230 rooms and extensive meeting & event spaces and will feature dedicated resident experts known as voco hosts. Guests will also be given a a locally inspired welcome treat upon arrival.
The voco Edinburgh Haymarket in the city’s West End is a new-build and features 150 rooms and suites, an all-day restaurant called The Blossom and a destination-led bar called Edinburgh at the Bar.
The voco brand, which is largely focused on conversions of independent hotels, has ten properties open across Europe, including Cardiff, Oxford and Reading in the UK.
Karan Khanna, managing director UK & Ireland, IHG Hotels & Resorts said: “Both properties reflect the voco brand proposition, being reliably different while celebrating each hotel’s individual spirit and character. Since launching in 2018, voco has seen extraordinary growth and is proving popular with owners and developers alike given its strong conversion appeal.”
