Marriott International is set to open eight hotels in the Netherlands following a “multi-deal” agreement with local operator Townhouse Hotels, the companies announced on Monday (5 October).
The deal will add hotels in Amsterdam, Breda and The Hague to Marriott’s portfolio and mark the company’s entry into Maastricht and Eindhoven. Six existing Townhouse properties will be rebranded under Series by Marriott, while two independent boutique hotels will join the company’s Tribute Portfolio brand.
The Series by Marriott properties will include the 88-room Townhouse The Hague; the 82-room Townhouse Maastricht; the 55-room Townhouse Mabi Maastricht, housed in a former cinema; and the 79-room Townhouse Kaboom Maastricht.
The 84-room Hotel Qbic WTC Amsterdam will be rebranded as Townhouse Amsterdam WTC, Series by Marriott, while the 106-room Hotel Keyser in Breda will become Townhouse Breda, Series by Marriott.
The Ald Hotel The Hague, with 91 rooms, and the 134-room Hotel Mariënhage Eindhoven, housed in a former monastery complex, are expected to join the Tribute Portfolio.
“This agreement represents a significant milestone for Marriott International in the Netherlands, bringing eight distinctive hotels into our portfolio and introducing Series by Marriott to the Dutch market,” said Jerome Briet, chief development officer, EMEA at Marriott International. “These projects offer a mix of independent hospitality experiences across sought-after destinations, while also enabling our entry into Maastricht and Eindhoven.”
Townhouse Hotels CEO Rick de Jonge described the deal as “a defining moment” for the company, which operates 10 properties across the Netherlands.
“Joining Marriott's global platform opens the door to new guests, new markets and new opportunities, and marks the start of an ambitious next chapter,” de Jonge said in a statement.
As of 30 June 2026, Marriott operated more than 30 properties across 12 brands in the Netherlands.
