Four Seasons has announced plans to return to Germany by renovating the existing Hotel de Rome in central Berlin.
The Canada-based luxury hotel brand said it would work with European hotel developer Gruppo Statuto on a major renovation of the property in Berlin’s Mette district. It will be renamed as Four Seasons Hotel Berlin when it reopens in late 2027.
Four Seasons and Gruppo Statuto are taking over the management of the hotel, which was previously part of Rocco Forte Hotels. The move will see Four Seasons return to the German capital after an absence of more than 20 years.
Alejandro Reynal, president and CEO of Four Seasons, said: “We are proud to mark our return to Germany, re-establishing Four Seasons as the leading luxury hospitality offering in the market.
“Berlin is an important European destination to add to our global portfolio, and we look forward to collaborating once again with Gruppo Statuto.”
The renovation will create a hotel with around 140 rooms and suites, plus three restaurants and bars, including a rooftop terrace. Spa and fitness facilities will be based in the building’s former jewel vault. There will also be more than 1,000 square metres of indoor and outdoor event space.
In a statement, Four Seasons said the property would continue to operate as Hotel de Rome during 2026 under the management of Gruppo Statuto. The company added that “select services and amenities” would remain open throughout the renovation process.
