The Belmond Cadogan Hotel in London has reopened following a multi-million-pound refurbishment.
The hotel closed for renovation in 2014 and had announced opening dates in 2016 and 2018, but delays pushed the completion of works back.
Belmond has since been acquired by LVMH, owners of the Moet and Chandon, Hennessy and Louis Vuitton brands, in a deal worth US$3.2 billion.
The Cadogan is Belmond’s first luxury property in London. Located on Sloane Street, the hotel now offers 54 rooms and suites, and boasts spacious rooms that are a ‘little house’ with living rooms and dining areas, as well as large bathrooms and in-room bars with tea and coffee-making facilities.
Chef patron Adam Handling runs the eponymous restaurant with an open kitchen, chefs’ tables and bar seating. The menu features British cuisine, with sustainability in mind, according to Belmond. Room service and private dining is also available at the hotel.
Meanwhile, the property’s bar serves cocktails, champagne and whisky, and afternoon tea is served throughout the day in Cadogan’s tea lounge, which becomes a private residents’ bar in the evenings.
Hugh Seaborn, CEO of Cadogan, commented: “The Cadogan Hotel has a colourful history – and a wonderful future. Belmond is the perfect partner for us to preserve its unique heritage and character, while evolving into a true retreat for today’s luxury traveller and ‘home from home’ for locals.”
