A new deal for pilots at Virgin Atlantic has been put on the table, averting a potential strike.
The British Air Line Pilots Association (BALPA) will put the offer to its Virgin Atlantic pilot members in a ballot.
Details of the offer have not yet been released.
Jim McAuslan, BALPA’s general secretary, said: “Pilots have never wished to inconvenience the travelling public.
“We have therefore lifted the threat of strike action.”
On June 21 the union announced some 97% of BALPA’s Virgin members voted to strike, from a turnout of 94%.
The dispute is over a lack of pay increases for pilots at Virgin, who BALPA said have seen no rise in pay since 2008.
A Virgin spokeswoman confirmed that negotiations between the two parties have concluded.
"BALPA will present a pay offer to its members over the coming weeks," she said.
"The threat of strike action has now been removed and our flying schedule remains completely unaffected."
