An existing high-speed rail service between Brussels and France is set to be extended to the Swiss city of Basel from next summer.
The current TGV InOui service from Brussels to Strasbourg is jointly operated by SNCF Voyageurs and SNCB. Under new plans, the route will be expanded to Basel on a “pilot” basis from early July 2027 through a deal with SBB Swiss Federal Railways.
SBB said in a statement that the extended service linking Belgium, France and Switzerland would operate one return trip on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
“This extension will allow Swiss travellers to reach London via a connection in Lille or continue onwards to the Netherlands from Brussels, offering attractive rail alternatives to existing air travel options,” added SBB.
“However, under the current timetable, it is not possible to make a connection at Lille when travelling from London to Switzerland.”
The extended service will call at Lille, Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport, Champagne-Ardenne, Meuse and Lorraine TGV stations before reaching Strasbourg and then Basel.
Planned services will depart Brussels at around 7am for arrival in Basel at 12.30pm. The return trip will leave Basel at 2pm and arrives back in Brussels at 8pm.
Tickets for the extended InOui route are expected to go on sale in spring 2027, according to SBB.
