Northern European carrier AirBaltic and Israeli airline El Al have agreed a codeshare agreement, which will take effect from 1 July.
The deal will see El Al place its LY code on AirBaltic’s flights between Riga and Tel Aviv, as well as services from Riga to Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Munich, Oslo, Stockholm, Tallinn, Vienna, Vilnius and Zurich.
Meanwhile, AirBaltic will apply its BT code on El Al flights operating between Tel Aviv and Amsterdam, Vienna, Munich, Frankfurt, Milan, Berlin and Zurich.
Mantas Vrubliauskas, vice president of network management at AirBaltic, said: “This agreement will provide customers with more seamless connections while further strengthening Riga’s position as a key gateway between Israel, the Baltics and Northern Europe.”
The codeshare announcement comes as AirBaltic prepares to resume flights between Riga and Tel Aviv from 1 July, with three flights per week.
Shlomi Zafrany, El Al’s VP of commercial and global sales, added: “Alongside the announcement of 12 new destinations added to our network within a short period of time, we continue to expand the range of destinations available to our customers through additional partnerships with leading airlines.”
