HILTON HOTELS CORPORATION'S Hampton by Hilton brand is destined to become a major UK player following the signing of a strategic development deal for up to 30 new hotels, totalling 4,000 rooms, over the next five years.
Already successful in the US, Hampton by Hilton describes itself as "a new kind of economy hotel" offering, among other things, complimentary high-speed internet access and complimentary hot breakfasts.
Britain's first Hampton by Hilton is due to open in Corby North next year, but the latest deal - with development company HLH Property - will take brand recognition to a new level.
Phil Cordell, Hampton's senior vice-president of brand management, said: "We expect our success in the US to filter through internationally and for Hampton by Hilton to become the UK's number one economy hotel choice."
In the past year, Hilton Hotels Corporation has forged two other "substantial alliances", with developers Shiva and Somerston, for a total of 40 new UK hotels. Also, separate to the HLH deal, it has 13 hotel sites being developed across its family of UK brands.
