PARIS: French travel conglomerate Accor has upped its stake in Polish hotel company Orbis from 45 per cent to 50.01 per cent.
Accor first bought into the company in August 2007. Stateowned until 2000, Orbis manages 62 hotels, two-thirds of them under Accor's Sofitel, Novotel, Mercure, Ibis and Etap flags.
Accor chief executive Gilles Pélisson said: "Strengthening our holding in Poland's historic hotel leader represents a unique opportunity for Accor to develop its brands - especially in the economy segment - in central Europe's largest country."
