Travel technology specialist, Zolv (www.zolv.com), is to unveil an innovative new cloud-based web travel platform at this year’s World Travel Market designed to increase sales conversions and reduce IT infrastructure costs by half.
On show at Stand TT170, the Zolv Web Travel Platform is a first-of-its-kind platform for travel websites to be hosted in the cloud and is set to unlock the benefits of cloud computing for the travel industry. As a fast-moving industry with peak seasons, the competitive online travel sector is often challenged by huge peaks in web traffic.
Currently, many online travel companies are reliant on the predictions of their sales and marketing departments to put in place the required infrastructure to support their sites. The result is that many travel sites experience difficulties meeting user demand during peak times, and as many more are spending far too much on infrastructure that they will never need.
Developed over the last 18 months, the Zolv Web Travel Platform is the brainchild of Zolv MD, Olly Wenn and his talented team of developers, who have delivered award-winning websites for companies such as Virgin Holidays, Teletext Holidays, Travel.co.uk and Shearings, that deliver sales of hundreds of millions of pounds per year. Zolv MD, Olly Wenn, said: “We are not claiming to be the first travel tech company in the cloud space, but we believe we are the first to have embraced cloud technologies to build a plug and play platform that delivers content distribution, intelligent integration of CRM, personalised e-commerce and low cost, scalable hosting for the travel market.
“We see Cloud Computing as something more than a cheap hosting option, we have designed our platform from the ground-up leveraging the strengths and benefits of Cloud technologies, such as content distribution networks, automatic monitoring and scaling and transparent recovery from failure. We are also tightly integrating with third party cloud-based businesses such as Salesforce to bring world class CRM into our platform, enabling Closed Loop Marketing out-of-the-box.”
A major advantage of the Web Travel Platform is its ability to dynamically grow or shrink its underlying infrastructure based on demand ensuring optimal capacity at all times. This results in continued online presence and lightening fast response times during peaks in traffic, with reduced operational costs during quieter times; allowing travel businesses to sell more product and reduce their IT costs. The platform can be configured to manage the most complicated online travel product and marketing domains, setting it apart from traditional CMS systems. Crucially, it promotes real-time sales and marketing, allowing users to create rich content, promotions and landing pages and to schedule campaigns and tactical special offers in advance. Enabling targeted demographics, the platform allows the sales merchandising team to optimise the online experience for customers based on the customer intelligence held by the marketing department and the travel company’s CRM.
A travel site developed on the Zolv platform can be configured to deliver the most relevant content for products, suppliers or customers based on unlimited criteria – creating a website that speaks directly to each individual user. Visitors to the Zolv stand will have the opportunity to speak with the Zolv team about the platform and to see how the technology is currently being applied to the website of Shearings.com and VIP Ski.
Zolv’s Business Development Director, Jonathan Greensted (ex-Virgin Holidays IT Director), will also be speaking in the presentation theatre on Tuesday 9th Nov at 13.45 and sharing his expertise on how travel companies can improve their online web presence in 2011; enhance their Closed Loop Marketing and examines the benefits of intelligent use of CRM.
