Santander has teamed up with international business payments firm Airplus International to strengthen its position in the expense management arena in the UK.
The Spanish bank, which bought UK bank Abbey National in 2004, has launched three new products under the tie-up, for the UK market.
The Santander AirPlus Corporate Card is a “tailored payment solution to help manage a range of travel and business expenses”, while the Santander AirPlus Corporate Card Compact is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
For a “tailored payment solution” the Santander AirPlus Company Account is for companies with more “extensive” travel needs.
Steve Pateman, head of UK corporate and commercial banking at Santander, said the alliance with AirPlus “allows us to extend our payment offering” to customers.
He said: “As the banking market evolves its payment environment, we will be able to provide further card and digital solutions by continuing to build on this partnership.”
Yael Klein, Managing Director at business to business specialist AirPlus International, which will fulfil the product, said the partnership is the basis for sustained growth in the UK market.
“Santander’s existing payment systems and long lasting experience are an excellent fit with our know-how in international business payment solutions,” she said.
